NJ Congessmen with "unhealthy" attitudes to reform
Legislators in the House voted 220 to 215 on Nov. 20, 2009 to approve an overhaul of America's health care system.
The 5 Republicans and 1 Democrat who opposed it are listed below in the hope that NJ businesses will urge them to re-consider and remember their obduracy come election time. To find the email address of your legislator just go to: https://writerep.house.gov/htbin/wrep_findrep
Rodney Frelinghuysen (R) Morristown (NJ-11) Scott Garrett ( R ), Wantage (NJ-5) Leonard Lance ( R ), Clinton (NJ-7) Frank A. LoBiondo ( R ), Ventnor NJ-2 Christopher Smith ( R ), Hamilton (NJ-4)
Only one of these “refuseniks” was a democrat. John Adler (D) Cherry Hill, (John is a first term assemblyman who is not a member of the “Blue Dog” democrats).
Why he and the other five Republicans chose to oppose this healthcare bill when they represent New Jersey, the Pharmaceutical Capital of the country is a mystery.
Uninsured New Jerseyans are currently funded by a surcharge of around 20% on every hospital bill. The promise of covering all those uninsured NJ residents and in the process lowering the cost of health care for those insured, is a reason just as compelling.
